VE 2010

June 22nd, 2010 by Tim Moore

I announced this past weekend at Crossroads that we are holding a Volunteer Event on Wednesday, July 14th at 7pm at the church. I realize that the life change that we see at Crossroads only happens because of our heroes! Every weekend we have scores of people who park, greet, seat, serve coffee, teach kids, run lights, play music, and more. I am so humbled that so many people would join me in this incredible ride. This is our way of saying…thanks!

If you volunteer, then you should have received an invitation to this event. Here’s a little that we have lined up for it.

– Free massages
– Refreshments and cake
– Games
– Giveaways and door prizes
– Lots of gift cards to nice restaurants to hand out
– Some rockin’ music from our band
– Some inspiring and appreciative words from yours truly

You get the idea. I hope I see you there and I hope you enjoy yourself!

Borrowed Inspiration

June 17th, 2010 by Tim Moore

I am the type of person that needs and wants to be inspired. I don’t like preaching a message if I don’t feel inspired by it. I want to be inspired and inspiring to others in all that I do. But sometimes, I don’t feel inspired.

This might be you right now. Maybe you have a lack of inspiration for your marriage, or your finances or your career. Perhaps you have a lack of inspiration for the ministry God has called you to lead. What do you do when you feel a lack of inspiration? You could do what most people do…quit!

This is why many pastors leave the ministry. They don’t feel inspired to be there anymore so they quit. This is also why so many people in the church quit leading an area of ministry, because they aren’t “feeling it” anymore. But what we must realize is that our “calling” is not always connected to our “level of inspiration”.

I have those moments of feeling totally uninspired. But I don’t think about quitting…I think “where can I borrow inspiration from?”

When I feel uninspired, I stop what I’m doing and take a walk and simply talk to God. At other times I will just read chapter after chapter in the Bible seeking inspiration. Another way I often get inspired is by listening to other preachers. Believe it or not, you can borrow inspiration from other sources. You’re never too good that you won’t need to be inspired.

Working on “E”

June 16th, 2010 by Tim Moore

As most of you know, I just got back from a relaxing vacation with my family at the beach. It was awesome. The weather was incredible, the sun felt good and the family time was immeasurable.

To be honest, I didn’t think much about work at all this time. I am learning to disconnect more and more. I also believe that more people need to do this…especially pastors and ministry leaders!

Since coming back from the vacation, I have experienced fresh ideas and concepts for leading Crossroads just popping into my mind! Prior to my trip, I felt like I was striving to come up with ideas. I think I was working on “Empty”.

If we try to do too much on empty, we will find ourselves working many hours but producing very little. Sometimes you need to unplug, disconnect and allow yourself to simply refresh and refill.

Some people think they can somehow making a bigger impact by putting more hours in for God.
But I’m learning, the more I hear from God, the bigger the impact I can make. And I can’t hear from God when I’m running on fumes and overworked.

Have you planned a break recently?

Tomorrow I’ll continue this concept and talk about what we can do when we feel uninspired!

Sometimes you need the mess

June 14th, 2010 by Tim Moore

I feel like we’ve been working in a construction zone for quite some time. Not only has our church undergone reconstruction with the addition of our new youth facility, but our office area has been as well. I must say it has been so hard to work in this environment. Frankly, it’s been a mess.

The irony of our construction hit me today as I was preparing to speak to my staff. It was easier to get things done before we started construction. My office was setup. Life was easier for me. Then we tore everything down to make it better. It sure didn’t feel like that at the time. But we did it so that we could be even MORE effective after the construction. The new office area looks and feels much better and should help all of us become more efficient and productive.

Sometimes you need the mess in order to become better at what you do. Sometimes you need to take something that works, break it down, in order to make it work even better. Honestly, we must be willing to take that same approach with ministry. I challenged all of our staff leaders to take a hard look at their processes so we can tear them down and make them better. While this might not feel good and is a little chaotic, I believe our church will be better for it.

What do you need to reanalyze in your life? Could you be more efficient at your job if you to an objective look at how you are doing it? Could you make more time for your family if you reworked your schedule?

Sometimes you need the mess…

Taking a break

June 8th, 2010 by Tim Moore

Well, most of you have probably figured out by now that I’m on vacation. My family and I are hanging out on the beaches this week in South Carolina. It’s been beautiful so far.

I am taking a week break from blogging. I will still be on twitter, but posting things from our trip. I will be back next week.

Peace!

Creative Order?

June 3rd, 2010 by Tim Moore

Have you ever noticed how creativity and order seem to live in opposite worlds…or at least we see it that way. We think that creative minds must be free of order in order to create. We often try our best to keep organization out when we want creativity to flow. We even portray creative inventors in our media as people who live in piles of rough drafts and totally disheveled lives.

But I’m learning the exact opposite is true. The more order you have…the more creative you can be. All of us have the ability to be creative. We were made in the image of the ultimate Creator. One attribute that differentiates us from the rest of creation is our ability to create new things from nothing, much like how God created this world.

I have found that the more order or organization I have the more creative I become. The more prepared I am for a message in advance, the more room I leave for my mind to create more unique ways of stating things. I have often lived on the edge of stress and deadlines which has often forced me to “create” rather than allowing creativity to come.

If you want more creativity, create more order in your life. Organize your schedule better, manage your time more efficiently and allow the creativity to flow.

One Prayer 2010

June 2nd, 2010 by Tim Moore

This year we are connect with over 1,000 churches to take part in One Prayer. One Prayer is a uniting movement of bringing churches together to connect through incredible teaching, serving and planting churches around the world. It gives our church an opportunity to hear from some anointed preachers who have mentored me in many ways.

I can’t wait for you to hear from some guys who I really respect and whose ministries have impacted me greatly. This year’s theme is “Unstoppable…” This is exactly what the church is when we unite with One Mission and One Purpose under the One True God. I’m already getting pumped just thinking about how Unstoppable we can be because of what He has already done!! It’s going to be hot.

Click here if you would like to check out some of the things that One Prayer has accomplished in the past few years.
