Christmas Eve was an amazing night. The band really rocked. Best Christmas Eve experience to date. Gets bigger and better every year. Over 425 attended.

It was awesome.

Well, today I turn another year older. The thought of getting older is not a pleasant one, except that I’m believing that the best years are yet to come. I looked back at what I journaled last year on my birthday and realized that the things I asked God for came true. I guess even God gives Birthday presents. So this year, I’m asking for even more…not for myself but for what God can do through me. I am believing God for a big year in 2009 and we’ll see if he answers this year’s birthday wishes as well.
I feel so blessed on my birthday. I have an awesome family, an incredible church and a purpose in life. Can’t beat that.

At Christmas time, we often think about what we are getting for Christmas. This year, let me ask you, “What you are giving to God for Christmas?” The Wise men gave Christ something on his birthday (probably 2nd birthday in case you didn’t know). And so the tradition carries on…except we give stuff to each other and leave Christ out. So this Christmas, consider what you could give to God. Take a moment on Christmas morning to talk to God and tell him what you are going to give him. Here are a few things I would imagine He has on his list:
- All of you!
- Time talking with you regularly in 2009
- For you to serve him through serving in the church
- A promise to reach out to someone who doesn’t know him
- Helping someone who can’t help themselves
- Attend Crossroads Church (okay this one is really on my list)
What is your gift to Him this season?
Have a Merry Christmas!

Today was well…incredible. We launched 2 experiences at the beginning of the month and I told everyone that I believed we would have over 300 people by Christmas weekend. We had over 320 people today. God is good and seems to blow away our expectations.
We are expecting Christmas Eve to be even bigger. Both experiences are “sold out” and we are expecting 500 or more. The band is putting in overtime and we have some really special creative arts pieces in the experience. It should prove to be an amazing evening. I hope the rest of you are as excited as I am about Christmas Eve!

Through this series we’ve been doing called “One”, I have been challenged in many ways. I’ve been wrestling with is this thought: “How big is my faith in God?” We all say we believe in God and that He will do what he said in the Bible. I’m a pastor…I have to believe that…right?
This line from the Bible won’t leave me alone: “I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19) I can’t seem to get it out of my mind. I’ve heard it so many times and yet I’m not sure that I have always truly believed that. If we really believe Jesus’ words, I guess we’d ask and expect God to do bigger things.
So I am challenged and asking God for more than I ever have before. Not for myself, but for what he can do through me. How big is your faith?

I don’t know if you have any plans for Christmas Eve, but I do. Our church is holding 2 Christmas Eve experiences this year. We decided to give away tickets for both experiences to make sure we had enough room. To our surprise, almost all the tickets are gone. If you would like to experience Christmas on a whole ‘nother level (as Ed Young says), then get your tickets this weekend at Crossroads Church.

In our current series, we’ve been talking about change. We all want so desperately to see things change in our world, but are waiting for someone else to do it? In desperate times like these, I believe it is time for the church to be the change this world needs. It’s time for you and I to say, “I’ll be the ONE to do it”.
Too often we put off what we know we need to do. The Bible says that if we know we ought to do something good and we don’t…it is sin. What is God inspiring you to do today? Maybe it is reach out to your neighbor or a friend and invite them to experience God this Christmas at your church. Maybe it’s to give some food or time to help serve at the local shelter. Or maybe it’s to be the father or mother you know you need to be for your children.
Whatever it is…realize there is no guarantee for tomorrow. Today is here…do something about it. Live in the moment. Be the One.

Christmas is a fun time of year, but also a stressful one. We have parties, dinners, family functions (or dysfunctions), church services to plan and shopping malls to deal with. For kids, this is probably the best time of the year. No school and new stuff to play with. But for us adults, it often seems like a chore.
I’ve been thinking of a few ways we can make Christmas more memorable this year and less annoying:
- Plan a family moment (take the kids to see Christmas lights or a live nativity)
- Reduce the amount of shopping by drawing names with family and friends.
- Shop online! (It’s a beautiful thing)
- Teach your children what Christmas really is about.
- Reach out to someone who does not know Christ this season.
Any other suggestions?

How many of us felt the urge to splurge this past Black Friday? We got the ads on Thursday and everything looked so tempting. I wanted to buy another TV…simply because they were on sale. I almost bought a new DVD player…because they were such a great deal. And now it is Cyber Monday and I just want to look. I need help!
I find that this time of year it is so hard to resist the temptation to buy up everything I see. What is it about the Christmas season that makes us want to shop? This Christmas I am going to do my best to resist the urge to splurge. But with economical times not being so stable, maybe it would be better for us to simply say “No”.
Anyone else struggle with this?
