Here it is, Thanksgiving is upon us. It can be so easy to overlook this day with Christmas right around the corner. But this week, I have been challenged to pause and be thankful of everyone in my life. To be honest, it is pretty easy to take for granted the people in your life. So don’t.
My list is a mile long. And I have started early this week letting people know. Have you?

A team went with me to Catalyst One Day Conference last week. We got to hear Andy Stanley and Craig Groeschel speak on leadership and momentum. These are two of my favorite church leaders and I believe that have much to say on leadership for the 21st Century. To all pastors out there, I recommend you visit their sites (Stanley – www.northpoint.org / Groeschel – LifeChurch.tv) and learn from them.
The good news is that we didn’t come away from the conference with a lot of new information, but rather confirmation that we are on the right track. That is the most exciting thing for me. I continue to be amazed at the growth we have each week. We are going to 2 services in 2 weeks and it could be sooner.
I have always thought church should be this exciting. There is a buzz in the air every weekend. I have never experienced this in all my years of growing up in church. And my greatest fear is that it will stop! My prayer to God this morning was that this roller coaster we are on will never stop!

Well, I’m heading to Granger Community Church for a Catalyst One Day Conference with Andy Stanley and Craig Groeschel (some of my favorite church leaders). This conference is all about how to get, keep and use momentum in church ministry. I know there is much I can learn from these seasoned leaders. I’ll post some great thoughts when I get back.

I mentioned earlier that our church has been experiencing some great momentum since our launch in Lithopolis. We continue to see God working in the lives of so many people. But, I have also experienced times when we had little or no momentum as well. So I find myself asking, “What’s the purpose for this momentum?”
In sports, momentum is the key to winning the game. The team with the most momentum usually wins. It can even trump skill. But in our spiritual lives, it seems momentum has a bigger purpose. Momentum is the intangible that propels you to the next level.
In your career that could mean a more advanced position with the company. In education it could be graduate level classes. In the church, it could be effectiveness, leadership, and change.
What is your next level? Not just in your career or in a relationship, but maybe with God. Do you know what the next level looks like? Maybe it is a more consistent walk with Him. Maybe it is stepping up to serve and getting outside your comfort zone. Maybe it is inviting a friend to church with you. If you experience momentum, understand its not just to win one game, but to move you to a whole new level!
