Sailing always intrigues me. When I was younger a good friend of mine took me sailing on a beautiful lake. And I was amazed how far we could go and how we could get where we wanted to go without a motor. It’s a completely different feeling being on a sailboat than on a powerboat. We hoisted the main sail (always wanted to say that), and simply guided the boat to where we wanted to go. It’s amazing how you can harness the power of the wind to move yourself to where you want to go.
I sometimes feel life is like being on a sailboat. You can’t push yourself to where you want to be. You can’t always make it happen. But you can steer the boat. The question is what are you steering toward? Are you steering toward anything of real significance in this life? What are you aiming for in this life? If you don’t aim for anything, you’ll leave everything up to the wind.
I can tell you that what I’m aiming for. I’m aiming for reaching thousands of people who aren’t sure where they are headed with the truth about Jesus Christ. How do I hope to do this? Through building a church that cares about people’s destination. If I didn’t have this vision in my life I’d probably be working to get a better house, newer car, and million dollar retirement. While those might be good goals to steer toward, I know that they are worthless when I breathe my last.
So what are you aiming for? Can you take it with you when you reach your destination? Will anyone else be affected by your boat?

Our Grand Opening was off the hook. I was blown away by the response to our opening. I’ll be honest to say that I didn’t know what to expect, but I kept praying that God would do something bigger than I could imagine. He did. We had over 270 people show up. We packed the house for our opening service. Everything went really well and the response I received from so many people was incredible.
My most memorable moment was ten minutes before the service. I went outside and looked at our parking lot which was nearly full. I watched as our parkers were trying to get people spots and saw dozens of people making their way up the steps. Then I looked at our drive way and all I could see was a line of cars coming and more on the main road waiting to turn in. I knew right then that God was doing something bigger than I could imagine.
I’m on cloud nine right now…

I am pumped for the grand opening of our new building in Lithopolis this weekend. We have worked hard throughout the entire summer to renovate an old building into a modern facility that we can call home. The place looks amazing. I owe a huge thanks to everyone from Crossroads Church that stepped up to make it happen.
I know that God is going to do some awesome things this weekend. Many in our church have taken the 40 days leading up to our grand opening to fast sweets and desserts to pray for the community and our launch. I get a sense that everyone in our church is very excited. I’m assuming it is for the grand opening, but it could be the thought of eating sweets again. I’m not sure which one. Either way we are expecting the best and believing God for the results of all of our hard labor.
I’ll try to post some pics of the event next week.
